Are scholarships available students admitted to the Honors Academy?

Yes, the Honors Academy offers partial scholarships. The Honors Academy scholarship is merit-based and will provide $500.00 per semester to the scholarship recipients.

How many scholarships will be awarded each academic year?

  • 2016-2017 Academic Year – up to 16 scholarships will be awarded
  • 2017-2018 Academic Year—up to 16 scholarships will be awarded

What is the eligibility criteria for applying for a scholarship?

Eligibility for an honors scholarship is based on a GPA of 3.5+ and taking at least one Richland honors course as part of a full-time (12-hour) class load during the semester in question. Students must also be in “good standing” with the college.

The applicant must be a Richland College student who has:

  • completed the Honors Academy Application form;
  • Must be approved by the Honors Council at Richland College;
  • Must be in good standing with at least a 3.5 grade point average.

What is the Application Process?

Students must have completed the Richland Honors Academy Admissions Application, the DCCCD Foundation Student Scholarship Application, and a Personal Statement (including major, transfer plans, career goals, extra-curricular activities, and any other relevant information). Applications are accepted for spring 2017 scholarships until Friday, January 13, 2017, at 5:00 pm in El Paso Hall, Room 056 (The Honors Academy Offices) or by email at RLCHonors@dcccd.edu.

What is the Selection Process?

Any Richland student who has been admitted to the Honors Academy may apply for one of the specially designated honors scholarships. Scholarships are for full-time students taking 12 or more hours, with at least one Richland Honors course.
