Dental Assisting Program

In today’s job market, trained Dental Assisting is an ideal career for people who are interested in developing valuable skills and working in a satisfying career. Our program is designed to prepare the student to function effectively as an integral member of the dental health care team.

The program is stimulating, fast paced instruction that relies heavily on student participation. The course provides classroom instruction and basic clinical assisting skills. During the ten week training students will learn dental theory and terminology, the techniques of four-handed chairside procedures, exposing and processing dental radiographs or x-rays including introduction to digital and panoramic radiology. Instruction covers infection control standards, obtaining impressions of the oral cavity for the fabrication of study models and custom trays used for vital bleaching procedures, preparing dental material, and fabrication of provisional coverage. Students spend time assisting and observing in a practicing dental office. The Dental Assisting Program prepares students for the Texas Certification in Radiology, Infection Control and Jurisprudence.

The Nonprofit Management Certificate curriculum is designed to equip all nonprofit professionals with the knowledge, skills and ability to establish, to manage and to sustain a successful nonprofit organization. Mediation and Dispute Resolution Certificate

The Mediation and Dispute Resolution Professional Certificate Program is designed for those wishing to enhance their knowledge and practice of dispute resolution process, for people pursuing a career in dispute resolution, and those seeking to improve their communication skills for personal growth. The curriculum explores the history of dispute resolution and merges a theoretical grounding with a practical application of collaborative problem solving to offer a solid educational experience.

Completion of the program shows evidence to a prospective or current employer of recent professional-level training and development in this field for career advancement and/or salary increase purposes. Participants will receive Continuing Education Units for program courses completed and courses may fulfill continuing education requirements for specific professions.

Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Program

EMT is being offered again in summer starting June 30 – Aug 29, 2015, T/TH evening 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and alternate Saturdays 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Each students also are required to do 48 hours on an ambulance ride along, a rotation with the fire department and a shift in the Emergency room at one of our affiliated hospitals. The clinical internship is one of the most intense learning aspects and this is where the critical thinking comes in to play. We are currently offering assistance with funding the classes if students qualify.

We will also be offering a Fall Semester class. Dates to come.

Once a Nationally Registered EMT, (NREMT) with Texas Department of Health and Safety Services, there is an opportunity receive credit and pursue a Paramedic career. It is also the best choice for those Physician Assistant students from Universities needing clinical experience to the complete their degree.

Early Childcare Associate
