Medication Aide Renewal
Medication Aides are Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) who possess a Medication Aide Permit issued by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS). Medication Aides work primarily in nursing homes, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities. The Medication Aide permit must be renewed on an annual basis and may be a condition for continued employment.
Completion of Basic Medication Aide Training.
Medication Aide Renewal courses are offered 1-2 times a month throughout each semester. Renewal courses are typically scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays, and occasionally during a weekday based on instructor availability. Class meets from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Participants are advised to check the Richland College print or online Continuing Education Course schedule under Health Profession/Medical for specific days, dates and times.
Tuition for this one-day course is $35.00.
Medication Aides may register and pay for the renewal course in person at the Continuing Education counter in Thunderduck Hall, or by calling 972-238-6146 with a debit or credit card payment.
