A significant percentage of the workforce in the machining industry is approaching retirement age and the manufacturing community turned to the Richland College Garland Campus to equip the next generation of workers.
The Richland College Garland Campus is an award winning community campus focused on workforce training and development. Training is provided for individuals who are entering the workforce for the first time and for those currently employed who want to enhance their skill sets.
In response to a need voiced by the Dallas County Manufacturers’ Association for skilled technicians, Richland College created the Machine Operator program. The program includes training in blue print reading, OSHA, precision measuring tools, lathe and mill operations as well as a two week internship.
